International Standards For Phytosanitary Measures No. 15 (ISPM 15) is an International Phytosanitary Measure directly addresses the need to treat wood materials of a thickness greater than 6mm, used to ship products between countries.
Timber export packaging must be compliant
All timber export packaging must be ISPM15 compliant, one method of achieving this is to heat treat timber, this is done by heating the timber so that the whole section is heated to 56 deg’s and held at that temperature for 30mins. The equipment used has to be maintained and calibrated and regular frequencies to ensure this standard is achieved.
Once processed the timber and packaging must then be marked with the processors unique ID.
